Privacy Policy

1. No Personal Data Collection

DictoKey does not collect, store, or share any personal information. We do not require:

• User accounts or registration
• Email addresses
• Names or phone numbers
• Location data

2. Voice & Audio Processing

When you use DictoKey's voice dictation:

• Your audio is sent to our secure servers for speech-to-text processing (powered by OpenAI Whisper).
• The audio is processed in real time and immediately deleted after transcription — it is never stored.
• Transcribed text is returned to your device and is not retained on our servers.

3. Translation & AI Rewrite

When you use translation or AI rewrite features:

• Your text is sent to Azure AI / OpenAI for processing.
• The text is processed and returned — it is not stored or used for model training.

4. Anonymous Device Identifier

DictoKey generates an anonymous device ID solely for the purpose of counting daily dictation usage (to enforce the free tier limit of 30 dictations/day). This ID:

• Cannot identify you personally
• Is not linked to any personal information
• Is not shared with third parties
• Can be deleted at any time using the "Delete my data" button in the app settings

5. No Cookies or Third-Party Tracking

DictoKey does not use cookies, analytics trackers, advertising SDKs, or any third-party tracking tools. We do not serve ads.

6. Floating Bubble & Accessibility Service (Optional)

DictoKey offers an optional floating bubble feature that lets you dictate or translate text and insert it directly into any app — without switching keyboards. This feature is disabled by default and must be explicitly activated from the app Settings.

When you enable the floating bubble, DictoKey requests access to Android's Accessibility Service. Before granting this permission, the app displays a disclosure screen explaining exactly what the permission allows.

What the Accessibility Service is used for:

• Inserting your dictated or translated text into the focused text field of the app you're currently using.
• Reading the state of the focused field (empty, filled, password-type) to choose the right action — no text content is read or stored.
• Detecting when a sensitive app is in the foreground and automatically blocking insertion to protect you.

What DictoKey never does with this permission:

• We do not record, log, or transmit anything you type on your system keyboard.
• We do not read or store the content of messages, emails, screens, or any app content outside the bubble's own dictation flow.
• We do not access content from passwords, banking apps, or any app in our sensitive-apps blocklist.
• We do not send any app content to external services.

How to disable: You can disable the floating bubble at any time via the toggle in the app's Settings > "Floating bubble" section. You can additionally revoke the Accessibility permission from Android's own Settings > Accessibility > DictoKey.

7. Data Security

All communications between DictoKey and our servers are encrypted using TLS (HTTPS). Audio data exists only transiently during processing and is never written to persistent storage.

8. GDPR Compliance

DictoKey is fully compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Since we do not collect personal data, there is minimal data to manage. However, you can:

• Use the "Delete my data" button in the app to remove your anonymous device ID
• Contact us to request information about any data associated with your device
• Uninstall the app at any time — no residual data remains on our servers

9. Children's Privacy

DictoKey does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. Since no personal data is collected from any user, the app is safe for all ages.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date.
